A few weeks ago, I set up at a vendor market with my camping-themed cookies. While there, I got an order for these Americana-themed cookies. They were so fun to work on the design and make.
I wasn’t sure how I wanted to do the stars; I tried a few different methods while prepping the cookies. I tried piping on stiff royal icing with a star tip. I also tried a wet-on-wet technique where I piped small white dots of thin consistency on the blue icing before it hardened and used a scribe to turn it into a star. Neither of these created the effect I wanted. In the end, I decided to just pick out white star sprinkles from a set I had.
These red, white, and blue cuties were fun to make, and I got some positive feedback. Looking forward to my next cookies!
Later, for our actual 4th of July, I experimented with dipping Oreos, pretzel crisps, and strawberries in white chocolate and drizzling with red and blue icing. They turned out sweet and perfect for the 4th!
