Tuesday Tips & Tricks – Cake Baking

I’m starting a new series where I share some tips and tricks for baking and cake/cookie decorating. First up, I have my top tips for baking the best cake.

Baking the best version of your cake starts even before you crack the first egg.

Even slight changes in temperature in an oven can make a noticeable difference in baking! To ensure you are baking at the right temperature, use an oven thermometer. This can also help you know when your oven really is at the desired temperature. Some ovens will set off the preheat alert and show it is at temp when only the portion nearest the sensor is.

Dropping the temp by even 25F can also ensure a more moist, tender, and flatter cake.

Another helpful preparation tip is to bring cold ingredients to room temperature. This helps the ingredients emulsify and create a fluffy, tender cake!
