This week I tackled a new cookie theme – camping!
I participated in a local craft fair and wanted to make cookies that fit the wilderness/camping theme.
One tricky part of cookie decorating is the endless need for cookie cutters for every theme! I could spend all my profits on the adorable cookie sets I see online. One thing I’ve learned is to get creative with how I reuse cutters without spending a fortune.
For this set, I knew I wanted some camping elements like tents, trees, campfire, s’mores, etc. As I looked through my cookie cutter sets, I found a bear and a Christmas tree cutter that worked perfectly. I also experimented with some different shapes -a rectangle, triangle, hexagon, and circles that would work.

I had a lot of fun coming up with some creative ideas! I utilized my edible markers for elements on many of these cookies, including one with the logo for the craft fair.

One of my favorite cookies was the campfire ones! I was experimenting with a technique I was going to use for upcoming firefighter-themed cookies. I started with a glob of yellow icing surrounded by orange and then red icing. I used a cookie scribe to blend the colors out from the center to the edges to make the flames.
